Monday Morning Music - I'm Back

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I've got in my head when I wake up.

AC/DC - Back in Black

"Back in Black" is a song by AC/DC, appearing as the first track on side two of their 1980 album of the same name. Known for its opening guitar riff, the song was AC/DC's tribute to their former singer Bon Scott. His replacement Brian Johnson recalled to Mojo magazine in 2009 that when the band asked him to write a lyric for this song, "they said, 'it can't be morbid – it has to be for Bon and it has to be a celebration.'" He added: "I thought, 'Well no pressure there, then' (laughs). I just wrote what came into my head, which at the time seemed like mumbo, jumbo. 'Nine lives. Cats eyes. Abusing every one of them and running wild.' The boys got it though. They saw Bon's life in that lyric."

Monday Morning Music - "No stopsigns, speed limit, Nobody's gonna slow me down."

AC/DC - Highway to Hell

"Highway to Hell" is the opening track of AC/DC's 1979 album Highway to Hell and the twelfth track on AC/DC Live. It was initially released as a single in 1979.

The song and album's title supposedly came after a reporter asked band members if they could describe what life was like being constantly on tour. Angus replied that it was "a fucking highway to hell". He stated in the magazine Guitar World that when you are out on the road on a bus sleeping with a guy's smelly sock in your face, it's like you're on the highway to hell. However, rumours circulated that the band members were Satanists and the cover of the album named after the song, depicting Angus with devil horns and tail, added fuel to the fire. The band has denied having anything to do with Satanism, with Malcolm Young commenting: "my mum would kill me for that!"

Monday Morning Music - Think For Yourself

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I have in my head when I wake up.

Nickelback "Burn It To The Ground"

I know, I know, "They suck."  Heard it.  Heard it.  Heard it.  This is the popular refrain from the public when Nickelback is mentioned.  These are the same people that call Metallica sellouts, and Christina Aguilera fat.  Look, we all love to belong to something bigger than ourselves, but just think for yourself.  Music is art, and art is subjective.  I know Nickelback only has 3 songs; the power ballad, the tounge-in-cheek party song, and the stadium rock anthem (as seen above), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  AC/DC, the Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith still sell out arenas around the world but haven't done an unique album in decades (outside of Aerosmith's, "Honkin' on Bobo" which didn't sell nearly as well as their previous offerings).  What I'm saying is, I'd wager that if you clicked on the link above, you just might be tapping your heel and/or bobbing your head by the time it's over.

Enjoy!
