Monday Morning Music - Better Suited For Yesterday

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune is in my head when I wake up.

Easy - Faith No More

Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, hailed as one of the most influential metal/rock bands of the late 80s and early 90s, and credited for inventing alternative metal[2][3] and as an influence on nu metal.[4] It was formed originally as Faith No Man in 1981 by bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist Wade Worthington, vocalist Michael Morris and drummer Mike Bordin.[2] A year later when Worthington was replaced by keyboardist Roddy Bottum, and Mike Morris was ousted, the group began calling themselves Faith No More. After going through a series of singers which included Courtney Love,[5] the band was joined by Chuck Mosley in 1983. The same year, Jim Martin was recruited to replace guitarist Mark Bowen.
I couldn't find a good video of the Commodores' version.

 Enjoy!

Monday Morning Music - Late Entry

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I have in my head when I wake up...Or, what I'm thinking about when I finally update the blog.

Underworld - Born Slippy

"Born Slippy .NUXX" is a 1996 single by the band Underworld.
It was preceded in January 1995 by the single "Born Slippy", which featured the ".NUXX" mix as a B-side. The band has stated that the pounding, relentless rhythm and shouted lyrics of the track were originally meant "as a joke"[1], and the single received little attention. They have also said in a Guardian interview[2] that the song is intended to sound like an alcoholic's internal dialogue and that Karl Hyde was a functional alcoholic at the time.
The ".NUXX" mix was released as its own proper single in the wake of the 1996 Danny Boyle film Trainspotting, where it could be heard in the final scene. The movie stoked immense public interest in the previously little-known track, helping the single peak at Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1996.

Monday Morning Music - Da Da Da DA Da...

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I have in my head when I wake up.

The Black Keys - Howlin' For You

Brothers is the sixth studio album by American blues-rock duo The Black Keys. The album was announced on March 2, 2010 by Pitchfork Media[1] and became the band's third release from Nonesuch Records on May 18, 2010. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 73,000 copies sold in the first week released, making the band's second-highest charting album to date.  An official video for the song "Howlin' for You" was released on February 10, 2011.[12] Also directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, the video is a parody of an action movie trailer.

Monday Morning Music - Tournament Memories

Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I've got in my head when I wake up.

Rocky - Gonna Fly Now

"Gonna Fly Now", also known as "Theme from Rocky", is the theme song from the movie Rocky, composed by Bill Conti with lyrics by Carol Connors and Ayn Robbins, and performed by DeEtta Little (the sister of actor Cleavon Little) and Nelson Pigford. Released in February 1977 with the movie Rocky, the song became part of American popular culture after main character Rocky Balboa completed his daily training regimen while the song played. The song finishes as Rocky completes his famous run up the "Rocky Steps" of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and raises his arms in a victory pose.

From a personal standpoint, this song always makes me think of the minor hockey tournament my Dad started back in '83.  This song was played to introduce teams for the opening and championhip games.
