Elastica - Connection
In mid 1992 ex-Suede band members Justine Frischmann and Justin Welch decided to form a group. By the autumn of that year, bassist Annie Holland and guitarist Donna Matthews were added. After initially gigging under names such as "Onk", the band settled on the name "Elastica" in October 1992.Enjoy!

"Snow" from the movie, "White Christmas"
White Christmas is a 1954 Technicolor musical film starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye that features the songs of Irving Berlin, including the titular "White Christmas". The film was directed by Michael Curtiz and co-stars Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen.
If you have the (mis)fortune of running into myself & my family at this time of year & it starts snowing, don't be surprised if we start singing this. Consider yourself warned.

Monday Morning Music - Think For Yourself

Nickelback "Burn It To The Ground"
Enjoy!
Nickelback "Burn It To The Ground"
I know, I know, "They suck." Heard it. Heard it. Heard it. This is the popular refrain from the public when Nickelback is mentioned. These are the same people that call Metallica sellouts, and Christina Aguilera fat. Look, we all love to belong to something bigger than ourselves, but just think for yourself. Music is art, and art is subjective. I know Nickelback only has 3 songs; the power ballad, the tounge-in-cheek party song, and the stadium rock anthem (as seen above), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. AC/DC, the Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith still sell out arenas around the world but haven't done an unique album in decades (outside of Aerosmith's, "Honkin' on Bobo" which didn't sell nearly as well as their previous offerings). What I'm saying is, I'd wager that if you clicked on the link above, you just might be tapping your heel and/or bobbing your head by the time it's over.Enjoy!

Monday Morning Music - "Have You Ever Noticed..."
Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I had in my head when I woke up.
Bobby McFerrin - Seinfeld theme song
"Seinfeld" ran on NBC from July 5, 1989, to May 14, 1998, lasting nine seasons. It developed a cult-like following thanks to classic episodes like, "The Bubble Boy", "The Puffy Shirt", and, "The Contest." The theme will be instantly recognizable to anyone from my generation and, thanks to syndication, to others as well.

Monday Morning Music - Missing the Argos
Monday Morning Music is whatever tune I had in my head when I woke up.
Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away
As a Toronto Argonauts season ticket holder for the past 6 seasons, I've come to really enjoy the non-televised player introductions. My favourite to date was the use of this song. There was a corresponding video that I'm really, really hoping the Argos will post on their YouTube channel (which you should really subscribe to!).

Duel of the Fates - John Williams Orchestra
One of the things I've always loved about "Star Wars" is the scope of the story. George Lucas once referred to it as "Space Opera" and all great operas have great music. John Williams' score sets the tone and pushes the story forward as well (if not better) than any other movie out there.

Originally done by The Kinks, Van Halen did a cover of this song for their '78 self-titled debut album. Their video was, well, not interesting enough for me to post, but I remembered the Nissan commercial (although I thought it was Mazda) and it's one of my faves.

Mark it with an "X"
Canadians (hopefully most of 'em) will go to the polls on Monday, May 2 to select which party will lead the nation...Until government is defeated at the first possible opportunity by the opposition.
See, the flaw of the minority government is also its strength - the Prime Minister must tailor bill proposals that appeal to other parties to garner their support, creating (in theory) a more balanced bill, but also gives opposition parties the power to defeat the government when they see polls showing them falling out of favour with the populace. But, I digress.
I've voted in every federal, provincial and municipal election since I turned 18 and I will continue "The Streak" tomorrow. Here's the problem: I'm suffering from voter apathy. I've seen the ads, heard the promises, read the platforms, but I don't believe anyone. You can promise anything during a campaign, but nobody says you have to follow through with any of 'em. Some would say that a situation like that would come back to haunt a party in the next election, but saying that someone didn't do what they said they were going to do is very vague and tough to bring someone down with. It's far easier to point to what they actually did - in politics, the quickest way to piss someone off is to do something. The other problem is that with 5 national parties it fractures the popular vote to practically guarantee a minority government, which means the government won't be able to keep their promises because they'll have to adjust bills to convince at least one other party to support it.
Since it's a private ballot I won't tip my hand to who I'll be voting for, but for any parties that may stumble upon this wee blog; anyone that promises to make all campaign promises legally binding will get my vote.
Jube.

The Saga Begins...
Alrighty, jumping on the blog train...About 12 years too late, eh?
The name, "Jube Theories" came from a good friend in high school who coined the phrase after I wondered aloud, "Hey, if construction workers on this continent whistle at attractive women, and European sports fans whistle to show displeasure, do you think European construction workers boo attractive women?" Clearly, I'm warped.
This'll probably be mostly gibberish - whatever comes to my twisted little mind that I don't have the common sense to keep to myself.
Enjoy!
